As a nature lover, Pat Hansen is inspired by all things in the natural word; animals - especially birds and mammals, landscapes, clouds and rock formations. She feels fortunate to have had art lessons throughout her school years and into college.

Hansen discovered oil paints as a young adult, and she now works exclusively in that medium. She starts with a sketch of the subject she will paint and then transfers it to canvas. Hansen is a studio artist who uses both photos and actual objects as references.

Hansen has a BA in Early Childhood Education, and has taught art to preschool children in a Montessori classroom, as well as to elementary school children through a grant administered by the South Shore Arts in Munster.
