Mark richardson

Mark Richardson, born in 1962, was raised in Chicago's historic Bronzeville neighborhood. It was apparent at an early age that Mark was artistically gifted. While attending John B. Drake Elementary School he entered an amateur art contest advertised in a widely circulated magazine. Despite placing second, that experience ignited a spark that quickly burst into a flame - one that continues to burn today - illuminating the universe with creations that explode from the canvas like techno-colored quasars.

His unique penchant for fusing colors and textures allows him to speak to a canvas in dialects that mirror the many mediums he works with. Acrylics, woods and metals in the hands of this gifted artist became masterpieces.

Although his body of work is diverse, he always seems to conjure the essence of his urban roots. Mark's style evolved over the years through his study of the works of masters such as Romare Bearden, Archibald Motley, John Biggers, Ernie Barnes, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollack.

Today, Mark Richardson's work can be found at galleries, major art shows and exhibitions nationwide.
