Judith Mayer

Judith Mayer, a Ball State graduate who is now living in Highland, declares that her creations are influenced by Mid-century modern art. She looks to a wide variety of sources for inspiration: Sailor Jerry, Art Deco architecture, retro candy, Pop Art and Graphic Design.

When asked to describe her artistic process, Mayer says "I am exploring how figure and crop interact and create meaning. The compositions in this series are off-center so that some of the narrative happens along and beyond the edges. The missing information makes them open to interpretation. I mix graphics, icons and patterns with the negative space to serve as the environment for the central figure as well as add detail to the story."
